Workday Student Set to Modernize the UAMS Student Experience in 2024

Over the last several months, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), along with 13 other UA System institutions, has been engaged in a multi-year endeavor to transition from current student information systems to a modern, cloud-based platform known as Workday Student.

With its intuitive interface and easy-to-use mobile app, Workday Student will transform the user experience to meet the evolving digital expectations of UA System stakeholders. UAMS is set to deploy Workday Student over six milestones beginning in April 2024 and concluding in September 2025.

Key Benefits of Workday Student

From admission to graduation, Workday Student will simplify the business functions that support a student’s academic progress involving Student Records, Academic Foundations, Student Finance, Financial Aid, Academic Advising, Recruiting, and Admissions. Once fully implemented, students will be able to apply for admission, register for classes, view their schedules, review financial aid, pay bills, and monitor their academic progress — all from one single sign on.

Timeline and Milestones

The first milestone of the Workday Student deployment is slated for April 2024 when UAMS admissions staff and Fall 2025 applicants in Physician Assistant, Pharmacy, and Medical programs will transition to Workday for all admissions processes. Admissions for all other programs with a Fall 2025 start will follow in July 2024. Current students and faculty will move from using GUS to using Workday in March 2025. A total of six milestones with varying degrees of personnel and scope will have completed by September 2025.

With the addition of the student administration modules, Workday will unify HCM, finance and student applications in a single platform, creating instantaneous access to real time data that spans multiple disciplines.

More details about Workday Student progress and training will come in the months ahead as we draw nearer to the first milestone in April 2024.
