CHL Assists on New UAMS Patient Education Portal

The UAMS Center for Health Literacy worked with the UAMS Information Technology team to create a new, more robust on-line patient education library that recently launched.

The goal of this new system is to improve access and increase efficiency for all involved in the upkeep of custom patient education materials. The new system is called the UAMS Patient Education Portal and officially launched Aug.15, replacing the H Drive as the access point for custom patient education materials. With the introduction of the new portal:

• Epic and the clinical desktop will access patient education documents via the new portal. Once a user is on the new portal, a tour is available to demonstrate how to navigate to documents you need.
• Requests for patient education materials should be submitted through the portal. Email requests will no longer be accepted.
• Documents on the H Drive will be accessible until Sept. 15. The Center for Health Literacy is no longer updating these documents.
• The portal contains only patient education materials. Documents that have been historically saved on the H Drive such as staff education materials that are not patient education will be available to their owners until Sept. 15, 2023, and then they will be archived.
