Continuing Education Featured Activity – Cardiac Club Lecture Series
John Paul Mounsey, M.D., Ph.D., the UAMS College of Medicine (COM) Division of Cardiovascular Medicine director and director of the UAMS cardiovascular program, initiated the Cardiac Club Lecture Series. It is an evening continuing education activity designed to provide cardiology updates for healthcare providers in Arkansas. A reception prior to each lecture allows for networking with UAMS faculty, participants, and exhibitors.

The inaugural lecture was held on Sept. 27, 2022. It featured Gaurav Dhar, M.D., FACC, FSCAL, a professor in the UAMS COM and director of Interventional Cardiology, presenting Catheter-based Prevention of Cardioembolic Disease.
This was followed on February 7, 2023, with the presentation, VT Ablation in 2023, by Auras Atreya, M.D., MPH, FACC, FHRS, FSCAI, a COM assistant professor.
The final lecture in the 2022-2023 series was presented on April 18 by Kalaivani Sivakumar, M.D., an assistant professor and medical director of Advanced Heart Failure, MCS, and Cardiac Transplantation. She presented Treating Advanced Heart Failure in 2023.
The participants received the series well. Based on its success, planning for the 2023-2024 series has begun. The Office of Continuing Education thanks Dr. Mounsey and the Cardiovascular Team, for providing important CE/CME updates for Arkansas healthcare providers. The next Cardiac Club, “Old Dog, New Tricks – Evolving Role of Echocardiography in Cardiac Structural Interventions,” is scheduled for Aug. 8.
