CHL Team Members Present at Conferences

Two members of the Center for Health Literacy (CHL) presented at recent conferences, with one also earning a first-place award in the poster competition for her work.

The presenters were:

  • Emily Taylor, M.Ed., MPH, health educator in the Center for Health Literacy, presented a workshop at the Annual American School Health Association Conference in Minnesota in June. The workshop, Emotional Wellness: Implementing an Online Health Education Module to Reach the Needs of Today’s Young Adults, featured CHL’s online module, How to M.O.V.E. toward Emotional Wellness, and provided opportunities for participants to explore ways to implement the content in and out of the classroom.
  • Anita Bucur, MBA, MPA, bilingual program administrator in the Center for Health Literacy, presented at the Institute for Healthcare Advancement Annual Health Literacy Conference in May. Her poster “Adapting Applied Plain Language Training for Translators Who Communicate Health Information” also won first place in the poster competition, as voted by peers. The poster presented findings from a CHL training pilot that equipped translators with skills to identify and translate health information utilizing plain language best practices.
