CHL Develops Course to Improve Health Insurance Literacy in Young People

The UAMS Center for Health Literacy recently received funding from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NNLM) Region 3 to develop an online learning module to address health insurance literacy in young adults.

The team will use their iterative design process to develop the new interactive module while incorporating health literacy and plain language best practices. The project aims to reach young adults, with a focus on students at the university level, to help them better understand and use their health insurance. Equipped with this knowledge, they can more easily keep themselves healthy and understand health costs. The module will also include a post-session survey to collect evaluation data to inform future work.

The module with be disseminated to partners at several Arkansas college campuses and has the potential to reach many more users after the project ends. You too can join us in our mission of making health insurance more accessible. If you would like to have access to the module when it is complete, email healthliteracy@uams.edu.
