Legacy of Dr. Isaac Folsom Explored at Dec. 7 Virtual Lecture by UAMS Historical Research Center

The UAMS Historical Research Center will present “‘To Benefit Permanently Not Only Our College’: Dr. Isaac Folsom and His Enduring Legacy at UAMS” as part of its ongoing Stay-at-Home Lecture series from 7-8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7.

Folsom (1827-1892) practiced in White and Lonoke counties and, upon his death, bequeathed money to the state’s medical school to provide medical care for the poor and indigent population. His contributions to the then-fledgling medical school are still recognized today. The virtual lecture will be presented by Tim Nutt, director of the Historical Research Center.
