The Office of the Provost
Dr. Stephanie Gardner is the Provost and Chief Strategy Officer of UAMS. As provost, she is the institution’s chief academic officer, providing leadership and coordinating resources in partnership with the Deans and other campus officials in support of the UAMS education mission that includes the five colleges (Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Health Professions, and Public Health) and graduate school, 61 degree and certificate programs, 1,537 faculty members, 3,275 students, 890 resident physicians and fellows, and five dental residents. As leader of the Division of Academic Affairs, Dr. Gardner oversees departments and programs that promote academic excellence and enrich the campus’ intellectual environment, including the Office of Academic Services, Arkansas Commission on Child Abuse, Rape and Domestic Violence, Campus Life and Student Support Services, the Center for Health Literacy, the Centers for Simulation Education, the Office of Continuing Education, the Culinary Medicine program, the Office of Educational Development, the Center for Faculty Excellence, the Office of Interprofessional Education, the Office of the University Registrar, the Library, and the Department of Institutional Research, Policy, and Accreditation. As Chief Strategy Officer, Dr. Gardner leads the Office of Strategy Management in its efforts to implement and to monitor progress on UAMS’ 10-year strategic plan, Vision 2029, as well as other strategic initiatives.
